You asked the following question: - How do I drop a class or withdraw?

There are several ways to drop a class during the drop period. You will be required to supply the complete course title and course number. Simply complete one of the steps listed below:

  1. Log in to MyPortal and drop the class.  Review important drop deadlines by clicking on View Your Class Schedule
  2. Write a letter that includes your full name, Social Security Number or student ID, signature, complete course title and course number. Mail to Foothill College Admissions & Records Office, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022-4599.
  3. Fax a drop request form (PDF) and include your full name, Social Security Number or student ID, signature, complete course title and course number to (650) 949-6979.
  4. Submit a drop request form (PDF) at either of the Admissions & Records offices in person during business hours. Be certain to bring your Social Security Number or student ID and photo identification.
Dropping a Class with a Grade of "W"

The option of dropping a class online is not available after the drop period is over. If you must drop a class after the drop period, follow the steps below. You will receive a grade of "W."  Note that there is no refund of monies in this case.

  1. Write a letter that includes your full name, Social Security Number or student ID, signature, complete course title and course number. Your signed letter must be received by the Admissions & Records Office by the last day to withdraw.  Review important drop deadlines by clicking on View Your Class Schedule in your MyPortal account.
  2. Mail to Foothill College Admissions & Records Office, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022-4599.
  3. Fax your drop request, including your full name, Social Security Number or student ID, signature, complete course title and course number to (650) 949-7048. Be certain to sign your fax request. Your fax request must be received by the Admissions & Records Office by the withdrawal deadline. 
  4. Visit either of the Admissions & Records offices during business hours by the withdrawal deadline. Be certain to bring your Social Security Number or student ID and photo identification.
